The path of not here

x The Night that Wakes You

The art getting lost & being found.

[[Martha Beck]] on The Path of Not Here:

“I’m completely lost.” — “No you’re never lost. What you’re getting is the information that the place you are now and the way you’re going isn’t the way you want to end up. That is an incredibly important place called The Path of Not Here. Every time you realize you’re in it, you have the option of shifting and going somewhere else.”

Anytime you realize you’re on The Path of Not Here, you can pivot and change directions. Most people just keep going instead of realizing there hasn’t been a footprint for a very long time. Being on the path of not here is similar to the road less traveled. You find more fulfillment when you make your own path.

It reminds me of the quote from Bob Dylan, “Be happy that you don’t have what you DON’T want.

  • See Joy is the track you’re following. When you’re on The Path of Not Here, you can use Joy in your body as a compass to direct you to where you can go next.
  • See We don’t know what’s on the other side of change. Is it more painful to confront the unknown side of meaningful change or exist on The Path of Not Here for the rest of your life?
  • See You either move toward love or fear. It’s scary to jump off the well-beaten path that a million others have carved out of the unknown, but for you to become the person you were meant to be, you must venture into the unknown.
