Our lives are both infinitely complex and ridiculously simply. We assign labels and names, stereotype and stigmatize, we build each other up and break each other down, but at the end of the day there exists a universal commonality that supersedes race, gender, political beliefs, and even favorite colors.

At the end of the day, we all want to be known—we all want to be loved. That is the universal truth that unites us all. Behind the meat suits we inhabit and the clothing we cover them with, we’re all just souls begging to be seen.

In a world that yearns for connection while avoiding eye contact, this can be a difficult truth to accept.

We’ve spent our entire lives building fortresses to cover up the imperfections, all the while desperately longing for someone to witness the wounds beneath the surface.

On the exterior, our castles look much the same—sky-high walls that guard our hearts and protect us from danger, but simultaneously enclosing the beauty within. Our stories are seemingly unrelated, but our experience underneath is vastly the same.

Pain, suffering, and sadness, joy, inspiration, and purpose, these words are defined individually, but the feeling is collective. Our lives are filled with love and loss, hope and longing, a dance composed of a million revolutions that will one day end.
